2 youths held for harassment

TWO youths, aged 17 and 21, were arrested on Monday for suspected involvement in loanshark harassment activities.

Police moved in following reports of several cases of harassment in the Upper Aljunied/Joo Seng HDB estate since earlier this month.

Officers from Tanglin Police Division spotted the two suspects loitering suspiciously in the cark park of Joo Seng HDB estate at about 10.30pm on Monday.

They checked on the duo and found seven cans of paint, two red markers, two tubes of superglue, a screw driver and a packet of disposable gloves on them.

Both suspects will be charged in court on Wednesday morning for loanshark harassment.

First-time offenders found guilty of loanshark harassment may be fined up to $40,000, or jailed up to three years or both. They are also liable for caning if any damage to property or hurt was caused to anyone during the incident.
